Craft Beer tasting on the NATCHEZ
40 Arpent Brewery Tasting
40 Arpent Brewing Company has grown from humble, bayou roots, beginning with Michael Naquin, 40 Arpent’s Houma-born founder. His childhood experiences of trolling with his Dad, knee-boarding in the 40 Arpent Canal, and watching his older brother experiment with a home brewing kit, have influenced every aspect of 40 Arpent. In 2000 Michael created his first two flagship beers in New Orleans’ MidCity neighborhood: an Irish Red Bean Ale and a Milk Stout.
With his first two beers in hand. Michael spent time in Asheville, N.C. where the craft brewing industry was thriving. Returning to New Orleans, he worked at three microbreweries to learn everything he could about craft brewing, In 2011, he founded the 40 Arpent Brewing Company.
How did it get its’ name? An arpent is a French unit of land measurement—slightly smaller than an acre—that was originally used by the French to divide property along a waterway. Given the brewery’s location on the banks of the Mississippi in Arabi, the name was a natural fit.
Michael will be aboard the Steamboat NATCHEZ (Texas Deck) for both our 11:30am and 2:30pm cruise. The NATCHEZ cruises past the location of 40 Arpent Brewing Company daily. He will be offering a tasting of his two new Craft beers – Basin Stout and Duckweed IPA.
Join us for a Cruise & Brew on October 2nd.
